Vironics, Inc. is dedicated to the discovery, development and worldwide distribution of drugs, medical products and technologies for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The company's primary focus is on cancer and viral diseases, in particular hepatitis B and hepatitis C, which are the leading causes of liver cancer. Vironics' three main goals in the area of drug development are:
1) Basic Research - Vironics is actively pursuing the identification of novel targets for anti-viral and anti-cancer drugs. Research activities are guided by the Scientific Advisory Board, which includes internationally recognized authorities in virology, cell biology, molecular biology and medicine.
2) Drug Development- Vironics' initial drug development program will focus on novel therapeutic agents for hepatitis C. Future drug development work will focus on common cancers and viral diseases, including hepatitis B.
3) Investigational New Drug Approval- Vironics will evaluate the safety and efficacy of new anti-viral agents and cancer treatments for approval in China. This will include agents already approved in other parts of the world. Vironics will conduct human testing of drugs that inhibit processes essential to viral replication or cancer cell proliferation. Data will be submitted for approval to the China National Health Ministry.
Distribution of Technologies, Products and Services
Vironics has access to a network of affiliated pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in China for the distribution of technologies, products and services. This distribution system will be used for products developed by Vironics as well as for products licensed from worldwide partners.
